Budget 2027: Assistance for Poor Students to Be Given Priority

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has indicated that Budget 2027 will include measures to address the financial difficulties faced by university students.

Anwar said he had listened to the concerns and requests of young people, including those related to the cost of education and the needs of students from low-income families.

However, he asked them to be patient, while assuring them that the government is listening to those who are forced to endure financial hardship while pursuing higher education.

“Some university students say, ‘We want to study, but we are hungry.’ We are focusing on this issue. I will announce it during the Budget.

“There are poor students who cannot afford their expenses and are forced to take on debt. These are matters that we need to listen to and address,” he said during his speech at the National Youth Economic Forum at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre here today.
