ALOR SETAR, Feb 13: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) is currently in its strongest position but must continue strengthening its internal unity to remain resilient, party president and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said today.
Speaking at the Kedah Keadilan Convention, Anwar said that despite facing heavier challenges compared to other political parties, teamwork and solidarity would ensure PKR’s continued success.
“Our focus is on building strength so that the ship sailing can dock with confidence and stability,” he said.
However, Anwar cautioned party members against assuming everything within the party is perfect, acknowledging that he had devoted more attention to governing and economic reforms since becoming prime minister three years ago.
“People can say what they want. Our duty is to work and respond to issues with the truth, not with fabricated stories,” he said.
Anwar stressed that the party’s struggle must be grounded in facts and warned that no nation progresses by sowing hatred. He urged members not to be distracted by voices driven by resentment but to carry out their responsibilities with integrity and accountability.
He also addressed religious issues, saying that while opposition parties may claim to champion Islam, true Islamic values are reflected in actions, justice, and the fulfillment of promises, not merely rhetoric.
Anwar reaffirmed that PKR takes Islam, the religion of the Federation, seriously, adding that the party’s mission is to uphold ethical governance and avoid hypocrisy.
