KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has denied claims that the government is planning a Cabinet reshuffle in the near future.
He stated that he has not heard of any plans for a Cabinet reshuffle as reported by a portal today.
“I was just informed and have not heard of any plans to help with the reshuffle… I have not heard anything.
“Where did this come from… don’t believe it,” he told the media at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre today.
Earlier, the portal cited a PKR source saying that a minister from the party might be moved to another ministry or removed from the Cabinet.
According to the source, the performance of the involved minister had been ‘questioned.’
When asked about the possibility of a Chief Minister being appointed to the Cabinet, Anwar said this might occur after the General Election (GE).
“After the next election, God willing,” he said.
The last Cabinet reshuffle occurred in December last year, expanding the Cabinet from 29 to 31 ministers.
DAP’s V. Sivakumar was removed as Minister of Human Resources, while two individuals were reappointed as ministers: Datuk Seri Dr. Dzulkefly Ahmad from Amanah as Minister of Health, and Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani from UMNO as Minister of Plantation and Commodities.
Meanwhile, several ministers changed portfolios.
