KUALA LUMPUR: The Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim called for fighting for the revival of the Global South, to foster a world where every country has a place and a voice in shaping the collective future.
Bernama reported, in a post on Facebook today, Anwar said this is because the Global South is changing and showing changes in western countries.
“For example, Spain, Ireland and Norway are becoming more assertive and without guilt taking different positions on global issues.
“This shows a step towards a truly global perspective, where diverse voices and views are increasingly recognized and respected,” he said.
Anwar also stated that he and the President of Brazil, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, are committed to advancing the agenda.
“Recalling the days of Zhou Enlai, Sukarno and Nyerere during the Asia-Africa Bandung Conference in 1955, it is clear that although the world has developed, the attitude of condescending others and colonial thinking still persists,” he said.
