Anwar and Sultan of Brunei discuss bilateral cooperation
KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim met with the Sultan of Brunei, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, at Istana Nurul Iman in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei, today.
According to Kosmo Online, Anwar stated that the one-hour closed-door meeting with Sultan Hassanal was held in conjunction with the 25th Annual Leaders’ Consultation (ALC-25) between Malaysia and Brunei.
“We took this opportunity to assess the progress of bilateral cooperation and discuss new initiatives to strengthen the relationship between the two countries for the benefit of both nations,” he said in a social media post today.
Anwar, who is also the Minister of Finance, mentioned that both he and the Sultan of Brunei share a common resolve to address longstanding bilateral issues.
He added that these solutions will help elevate the relationship between the two countries to a closer level in the future.
Additionally, he said that the meeting also served as a platform for exchanging views on regional issues of mutual interest.
“Aside from international issues such as the rights of the Palestinian people and Gaza, which need to be continuously advocated for freedom from the grip and oppression of the Zionist regime of Israel,” he said.
