A German tourist perishes in Pulau Perhentian while swimming
KUALA BESUT: On Thursday, May 16, in the afternoon, a German visitor drowned while swimming on Pulau Perhentian with her spouse.
According to Terengganu police head Datuk Mohd Khairi Khairuddin, the victim, Dr. Loosen-Freiling Iris, 74, drowned at around 3:30 p.m. while swimming with her spouse.

“During the incident, the victim’s husband who is also German, managed to save his wife from drowning by recognising that she was in danger and enlisting the aid of bystanders.
He said in a statement on Thursday night, “She was given first aid, but when she did not respond to first aid treatment, she was rushed to the Pulau Perhentian Health Clinic where she was declared dead.”
The body was thereafter taken to the Besut Hospital for a postmortem, according to Mohd Khairi.
After preliminary police investigations, there was no indication of foul play, and the case was labelled as sudden death. – Bernama
