UAE President Applauds UK Prime Minister’s Support for Palestinian State Recognition

LONDON: UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan has expressed his appreciation for UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s recent statements in support of recognizing the state of Palestine during their phone call on Wednesday.

The leaders discussed the escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza and ongoing developments in the Middle East, reaffirming their shared commitment to enhancing regional security and stability.

Sheikh Mohammed praised Prime Minister Starmer’s remarks made on Tuesday, where the British leader indicated the UK would support recognizing Palestinian statehood at the upcoming United Nations General Assembly in September.

Both leaders stressed the urgent need for a just and lasting peace between Israelis and Palestinians, emphasizing the importance of a two-state solution as the foundation for long-term regional stability and a better future for all.

The UAE president reiterated his call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the unrestricted delivery of humanitarian aid to alleviate the suffering of civilians in the besieged enclave.

In addition to the Middle East crisis, Sheikh Mohammed and Prime Minister Starmer discussed strengthening bilateral relations between Abu Dhabi and London and exploring opportunities for expanded cooperation in various fields, including trade, energy, and innovation.
