Tehran, July 20 (VOM-Voice of Malaysia): Iran has successfully replaced its damaged air defense systems following the recent Israeli assault that targeted critical military infrastructure, according to a top Iranian Army official.

Rear Admiral Mahmoud Mousavi, Deputy for Operations of the Iranian Army, said on Sunday that several of Iran’s radar and air defense installations were among the initial targets during Israel’s 12-day offensive, which Tehran says was backed by the United States and NATO.

“In this cowardly war, the Zionist enemy sought to cripple our defense capabilities by targeting radar and air defense systems. Some of our systems were indeed damaged,” Mousavi stated. “However, with swift efforts by our forces, the damaged systems were replaced and redeployed to their designated positions.”

He emphasized that Iran’s airspace remains fully protected, thanks to a combination of existing and newly deployed systems. “The enemy failed to achieve its goals. Our skies are covered, and our defense readiness remains intact,” Mousavi added.

The commander also highlighted that the Israeli regime did not act alone. “This war was not just an Israeli act of aggression. The United States and NATO provided intelligence and strategic support, making them complicit in the crimes committed,” he said.

Rear Admiral Mousavi underscored that Iran’s armed forces have capabilities that far exceed what Israel can handle militarily. “Despite heavy foreign support, the Zionist regime could not withstand our retaliatory power.”

He also praised the Iranian people for standing firmly alongside the military throughout the crisis, saying that the unity demonstrated during the conflict sent a powerful message to both enemies and allies.

The Israeli assault, which began on June 13, claimed the lives of at least 1,060 Iranians, including senior military commanders, nuclear scientists, and civilians, according to Iranian sources.

In a further escalation, the United States reportedly bombed three Iranian nuclear facilities more than a week after the Israeli offensive began—a move Iran condemned as a severe violation of international law.

Iran responded by launching targeted strikes against key Israeli military and intelligence sites, as well as the U.S. al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar, the largest American base in West Asia.

By June 24, Iran’s retaliatory operations had successfully halted the joint Israeli-U.S. assault, according to Iranian officials.

Tehran has since vowed to continue strengthening its defensive and deterrent capabilities in light of what it calls ongoing threats from hostile powers.
