MWL Chief Meets Uzbek Islamic Leader in Makkah to Strengthen Civilizational and Religious Cooperation

MAKKAH, July 15— The Secretary-General of the Muslim World League (MWL), Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, recently welcomed Firdavs Abdukhalikov, President of the Center for Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan, and his accompanying delegation during a visit to Makkah.

According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the two sides discussed collaborative efforts to promote Islamic civilization, foster intercultural understanding, and counter negative stereotypes about Islam globally.

Dr. Al-Issa commended the Center for Islamic Civilization’s vital role in advancing knowledge of Islam’s rich heritage and its contributions to global development. He noted the importance of such institutions in bridging gaps and addressing misconceptions surrounding the faith.

In response, Abdukhalikov conveyed Uzbekistan’s deep appreciation for the MWL’s global initiatives and its leadership in uniting the Muslim ummah. He also extended special praise for Dr. Al-Issa’s address at the United Nations, where he represented Muslims during the first-ever International Day to Combat Islamophobia, hosted by the UN General Assembly.

“Dr. Al-Issa’s presence at the UN and his powerful message against Islamophobia made the Muslim world proud,” Abdukhalikov said.

In a separate meeting also held in Makkah, Dr. Al-Issa received Mohammed Samir Al-Naqshbandi, Iraq’s Consul General in Saudi Arabia, who paid a farewell visit at the conclusion of his diplomatic posting.

Dr. Al-Issa expressed appreciation for the consul’s service in fostering strong bilateral ties between Saudi Arabia and Iraq and wished him success in his future endeavors.

Both meetings reflect the MWL’s ongoing commitment to religious diplomacy and international engagement, particularly in areas that promote peaceful coexistence, interfaith understanding, and the global representation of Islamic values.
