The police have cautioned prospective Hajj pilgrims to be vigilant against fraudulent schemes involving Mujamalah and Furada visas, as scam cases continue to rise.

According to records, 44 cases of Hajj and Umrah fraud were investigated throughout 2024, resulting in total losses of RM890,810.53. Meanwhile, as of February 2, 2025, 17 cases have already been recorded in just five weeks, with losses amounting to RM364,620.

Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department (JSJK) Director, Datuk Seri Ramli Mohamed Yoosuf, explained that Mujamalah and Furada visas are special visas issued by the Saudi Arabian government and are only granted to specific individuals or groups.

“These visas are not part of the official Hajj quota allocated to Malaysia by the Saudi Arabian government. However, they are extremely limited, expensive, and are usually only available at the last minute, subject to Saudi Arabia’s decision,” he stated at a press conference today.

Ramli further warned that the uncertainty surrounding these visas creates opportunities for syndicates to exploit desperate pilgrims, promising them Hajj access but failing to deliver.

“To avoid falling victim to scams, individuals seeking Mujamalah or Furada visas are advised to only deal with trusted agencies such as Lembaga Tabung Haji,” he stressed.

He also issued a firm warning that any promises guaranteeing visa issuance upon arrival in Saudi Arabia are completely false.

The police urge the public to remain cautious and verify visa offers through official channels, as falling victim to these scams could result in significant financial losses and the inability to perform Hajj.
