Special Committee for Agency Coordination to Support Anwar’s Initiative in Rebuilding Gaza

A Special Committee for Agency Coordination will be established to support Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s commitment to the initial efforts of rebuilding Gaza.

The committee will be administered by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) and Yayasan Waqaf Malaysia. Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), Datuk Dr. Mohd Na’im Mokhtar, stated that the special committee will collaborate with state Islamic authorities and other strategic partners to raise awareness and collect funds to assist in Gaza’s reconstruction.

This initiative is part of Malaysia’s ongoing efforts to support Gaza, which has suffered extensive destruction due to Israeli attacks since October 2023. Previously, the Prime Minister announced that Malaysia would construct a school, a hospital, and a mosque as an initial step in rebuilding Gaza.

Additionally, Japan has expressed its interest in collaborating with Malaysia by launching an East Asia fund program to further support Gaza’s reconstruction.

With the establishment of this special committee, efforts to rebuild Gaza are expected to be more structured and effective, gaining strong support from various stakeholders in Malaysia.
