According to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, one should avoid actions that incite racial conflict or attempt to divide people.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday (Dec. 24), about the same time that Christians enjoy Christmas on Wednesday (Dec. 25), Anwar stressed that all Malaysians need to help each other, especially when it comes to building a strong national identity.

He made it clear that Malaysia should not give up or let the needs of some groups stop it.

We must uphold the values and principles of universal justice. These reflect the hopes and wishes of the country’s founders, who saw the US leading the way in making the future with dignity.”

He said, “I have always stressed that racial and cultural differences are a recipe for prosperity in any country that wants happiness and peace, based on the principle of coexistence.”

He also sent Christmas wishes to all Christians in the same post as the Prime Minister.

“The Christmas celebrations start again every year on December 25, bringing joy to Christians all over the world, including those in Malaysia.”

Merry Christmas to everyone who is Christian. Don’t forget to spend time with your loved ones today and show them love, he said.

Anwar said that because Malaysia is a country with many races and cultures, big holidays like Christmas still brought people together and made them stronger. The Bernama
