Iran launches the Fakhr-1 satellite, breaking the previous record for payload capacity
The Iranian Army’s Fakhr-1 satellite successfully launched and entered orbit using the Simorgh carrier, according to the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).
According to a Friday statement from the Army’s public relations office, Iran set a new record for lifting payloads when the 300-kilogram Fakhr-1 and Saman-1 blocks were successfully transferred into orbit.
Fakhr-1 transmitted its first signal to Earth after entering orbit.
Iran’s sole sophisticated satellite carrier for launching satellites into high-altitude orbits is Simorgh.
Iran successfully launched two of its own satellites in early November and received signals that showed they were in excellent orbit.
