After fulfilling the girlfriend’s’siakap tiga rasa’ appetite, the teen owes RM13,000
According to reports, a 15-year-old girl owes loan sharks, or “ah long,” RM13,000 in debt. Darul Muttaqin (DM), an Islamic group, is helping many victims, including her.
Why did he turn to loan sharks? According to Malay daily Kosmo, he turned to loan sharks to satisfy his girlfriend’s craving for “siakap tiga rasa,” a dish consisting of barramundi cooked in a hot, sweet, and sour sauce.
According to DM Fardu Ain and Fariz Izhar Adrus, head of the Quran Studies Center, the teenager saw an ad on TikTok ‘ah long’ after his girlfriend wanted the dish.
“Perhaps he was too shy to borrow money from his parents. In the end, he borrowed from Ah Long.”
The Selangor teen had owed money to 12 loan sharks before he went to DM for help, according to the story.
DM reportedly informed the teen’s parents about the incident and his decision to drop out of school.
The group reported that it had assisted 3,700 Malaysians, aged between 15 and 60, who were struggling with loan sharks.
It stated that it receives 50 cases per day, with women accounting for four out of every five cases.
