Over 15 tons of aid from Italy are sent to Gaza to help people in need
According to a defense ministry statement, an Italian air force plane set off on Saturday loaded with more than 15 tons of humanitarian relief meant for the Gaza population.
The charitable organization Confederazione Nazionale delle Misericordie d’Italia, according to the statement, had gathered the help on board the C-130J aircraft—which left Pisa, a central Italian city.
“Italy is doing and will continue to do everything possible to alleviate the suffering of the civilian population in Gaza, said Defense Minister Guido Crosetto, adding Italy did not forget those who were suffering and was committed to a de-escalation of the conflict.”
The plane will ship all the goods it is carrying to Gaza after landing at Larnaca airport in Cyprus.
Italy started a flagship project called Food for Gaza earlier this year to assist Palestinians living there, and it has dispatched many consignments of relief to people devastated by the war.
