The Government Media Office in the Gaza Strip has reported that Israeli forces have murdered over 2,000 civilians in the northern region of the besieged territory. This occurred 38 days after the occupying regime initiated a full-scale extermination and ethnic cleansing campaign in the area.

Ismail al-Thawabta, the head of Gaza’s government media office, made the remarks on Tuesday. He also stated that the majority of the victims of the ongoing Israeli aggression are children, women, and the elderly.

He also denounced Israeli actions as a campaign of mass extermination against Palestinians in Gaza, particularly in the north, and urged the international community to promptly intervene and halt Israel’s genocidal war on the blockaded territory.

Thawabta further accused the United States, the United Kingdom, and a number of European nations of participation in policies of “starvation and genocide,” holding them accountable for the continuous carnage in Gaza.

Additionally, he charged that Israel was disseminating “false maps” that depicted enlarged “safe zones” for residents in Gaza, claiming that these regions are regularly the target of bombings and missiles, which cause civilian casualties.

The Israeli government began a massive ethnic cleansing and extermination effort in northern Gaza back in October, forcing thousands of people—including doctors—to flee.

Since then, the Israeli government has continued to use starvation as a weapon against the Palestinian people in an attempt to drive them out, preventing any food from entering northern Gaza.

Reporters on the ground in northern Gaza, particularly Jabalia, have detailed Israeli tanks moving closer to civilian areas, escalating artillery fire, and quadcopters regulating people’s movement as they scramble for cover.

Israeli forces have reportedly attacked hospitals and medical personnel, as well as set fire to schools in northern Gaza. The attacks have resulted in the displacement of tens of thousands of people and the deaths of hundreds of others.

Nearly 70% of those killed in the Gaza Strip during Israel’s extermination campaign in the beleaguered Palestinian enclave are women and children, the UN Human Rights Office (OHCHR) has already warned.
