A top Hamas official has stated that the organization is “open to any deal or ideas” from mediators to end the war in Gaza, but that these must entail a complete Israeli military pullout from Palestinian land.

In a televised speech on Tuesday, published by Reuters, Sami Abu Zuhri stated:

The movement has stated that it is open to any deal or suggestions that will stop the agony of our people in Gaza, secure a permanent truce, and the occupation’s removal from the whole Gaza Strip.

A compromise must include an end to Israel’s blockade of Gaza, unlimited relief and rehabilitation of Gaza, and the exchange of Israeli hostages in Gaza for Palestinian detainees in Israel.

His declaration does not represent a change in Hamas’ existing conditions. According to Benjamin Netanyahu, the war can only cease once Hamas is annihilated.
