KUALA LUMPUR: Efforts to assist flood victims in the Sungai Buloh parliamentary area continued yesterday, said the Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives, Datuk Seri R. Ramanan.

According to the portal Wilayahku, he joined a team of volunteers from the Sungai Buloh Parliamentary Service Center to help the flood victims.

“I, along with the Chief Executive Officer of the Malaysian Cooperative Commission (SKM), Rusli Jaafar, provided some basic necessities such as groceries and electrical appliances to residents affected by the flash floods.

“Thank you, SKM. I was able to empathize with their feelings when I met them and listened to their ‘heartfelt whispers.’

“I fully understand the difficulties and hardships they are facing. I will do my best to help. We need to stand by them,” he said on Facebook.

Ramanan added that the volunteer team would continue the cleaning efforts for residents in need.

“Thank you to the volunteer team that has been on the ground for the past two days to help manage the cleanup and other assistance,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Ramanan mentioned that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has approved an allocation of RM481 million for the implementation of the Flood Mitigation Plan for the Damansara River.

“I will ensure that this project is expedited to guarantee the welfare and safety of the people of Sungai Buloh,” he said.
