RAWANG: Twenty homemakers in the Hulu Selangor parliamentary constituency have been granted sponsorship under the Social Security Scheme for Homemakers (SKSSR).

According to the Wilayahku portal, the sponsorship was presented by Hulu Selangor Parliamentary Coordinator Dr. Sathia Prakash Nadarajan during the program.

Sathia stated that the program is an initial initiative aimed at helping homemakers who have not yet contributed to be protected against any disaster risks.

“Thank you to the Manager of the Social Security Organization (PERKESO) Rawang, Khairul Mizan, and all the PERKESO staff who participated.

“I also appreciate Dr. Saiful, who represented the Hulu Bernam Assembly Coordinator, Datuk Mohd Isa, as well as the village heads and members of the Hulu Selangor Municipal Council (MPHS) who attended this program,” he said.

Sathia also expressed gratitude to the co-sponsor of the program, Saifuddin Shafi Muhammad, who could not attend due to work commitments outside the area.

The program was attended by the penghulu, village heads from the Hulu Selangor parliamentary constituency, and the sponsored homemakers.

PERKESO provided a comprehensive briefing regarding the benefits under the Social Security Act of 1969 (Act 4), the Self-Employment Social Security Act (Act 789), the Employment Insurance System Act 2017 (Act 800), and the Social Security Scheme for Homemakers (Act 838).

The SKSSR, introduced on December 1, 2022, not only provides protection against death and chronic illness but also covers domestic disasters.

Domestic disasters include accidents while sending children to school, delivering necessities to the market, and managing household activities at home.

Since the introduction of the SKSSR, 100 claims have been recorded across Selangor, with a total of RM146,079.613 disbursed in benefits.

Current statistics show that there are 471,085 actively insured homemakers in Malaysia, of which 420,439 are under the government initiative (E-Kasih) for the B40 group.

During the program, PERKESO expressed its appreciation to Sathia for the sponsorship provided to the selected homemakers.

“It is hoped that this initiative will benefit homemakers and their heirs by providing SKSSR protection in the event of death or domestic disasters,” said Khairul.

Nur Akmaliza Md Hafizan, an officer from the PERKESO Rawang Social Care and Synergy Squad, also explained the function of channeling information and proactive actions for the claims process to exceed customer expectations.
