KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim stated that toll rates could potentially be lowered if the cost of highway development can be controlled.

According to the Wilayahku portal, he mentioned that the cost of developing highways involves significant expenses for the approval process.

Anwar made these remarks during the official opening ceremony of the Seremban South Rest and Service Area (R&R) today.

Meanwhile, Anwar emphasized that the comfort of the people is not only related to housing infrastructure and facilities but also to highways.

He stated that this is to ensure convenience for users traveling to their destinations.

“I stressed this importance while officiating at the Seremban South R&R opening, and took the opportunity to visit the facilities provided.

“I want to convey that the Madani Government is committed to prioritizing the interests of the people, including their comfort while using highway facilities,” he mentioned on his Facebook.

Anwar added that after his speech, he interacted with visitors, vendors, and R&R staff.

He also personally inspected the surau (prayer room) provided for convenience, including for Friday prayers, pending approval from the relevant authorities.

“I believe the Seremban South R&R, which employs sustainable (green) development concepts using solar energy and rainwater harvesting, is expected to save on electricity and water usage, benefiting both users and operators,” he said.
