KUALA LUMPUR: The Lower Syariah Court of Kuala Selangor has officially confirmed the taklik divorce decree issued by filmmaker Syamsul Yusof against his wife, Ira Kazar, during their marriage.
According to Berita Harian, the taklik divorce involves specific conditions set by the husband, and if the wife breaches these conditions, it can lead to divorce.
Syarie judge Mohd Faizal Habib verified the taklik divorce decree after Ira, whose full name is Faghirah Fatini Kazaruddin, initiated divorce proceedings on August 21.
Syarie lawyer Mohammad Fadhil Abdul Razak, representing Ira, stated that the court has confirmed the taklik decree, resulting in a talak satu (one pronouncement) divorce.
“The court has ruled that the divorce occurred outside the court between Syamsul and Ira. That’s all that was determined today. The decision was made based on the details provided. The divorce was officially pronounced around 10:30 this morning, and the case at the Gombak Timur Syariah Lower Court will not proceed further,” he said in a statement today.
On the other hand, Azmi Mohd Rais, the syarie lawyer for Syamsul, mentioned that Ira had breached the taklik conditions five times since August 14.
“Alhamdulillah, the divorce proceedings and the taklik decree have been finalized today, with the court finding that Ira had violated the taklik conditions. She breached the conditions five times, starting from August 14. This was done voluntarily without any external pressure. The idah period also commenced on August 14,” he explained.
Syamsul, 40, had previously filed for divorce against Ira on August 16 at the Gombak Timur Lower Syariah Court in Selangor, following their marriage on January 6 of the previous year in Southern Thailand. At the time, Syamsul’s first wife, actress Puteri Sarah Liyana, had also filed for divorce, leading to their official separation on June 14 of the previous year.
