Raw materials from suppliers have halal certification, says Johnny’s Restaurants and Black Canyon Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR: Two food and beverage (F&B) operators, Johnny’s Restaurants and Black Canyon Malaysia, have clarified that all raw materials used in their dishes are sourced from suppliers with halal certification.
According to the Wilayahku portal, the joint statement indicated that no alcohol or wine is used in the processing or preparation of the food and beverages served.
Johnny’s Restaurants and Black Canyon Malaysia’s management also explained that, at present, Johnny’s Restaurants and Black Canyon Malaysia are not yet “Halal Certified” by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM).
“However, the management of Johnny’s Restaurant and Black Canyon Malaysia wants to assure all customers that all food ingredients used in these restaurants, including chicken, eggs, meat, and other raw materials, are sourced from suppliers with halal certification.
“Copies of these certificates can be referenced at all our restaurants if needed,” they said.
Yesterday, JAKIM announced that five well-known restaurants do not hold the Malaysian Halal Certification (SPHM).
This includes Johnny’s Restaurant, Black Canyon, Dolly Dim Sum, Mr. Dakgalbi, and Bungkus Kaw Kaw.
The statement was issued following a review based on the MYeHALAL JAKIM system, in response to inquiries about the halal status of several food premises.
Meanwhile, Johnny’s Restaurant and Black Canyon Malaysia said they understand the importance of halal certification to their customers and are working to obtain halal certification from JAKIM for their central kitchen and individual certification for all their branches.
Johnny’s Restaurant and Black Canyon Malaysia also hope that the clarification provided will address the concerns of all customers.
“As always, priority is given to serving delicious, safe, and authentic Thai food to all Malaysians and customers who place their trust in Johnny’s Restaurant and Black Canyon Malaysia,” they said.
