KUALA LUMPUR: Unity Government spokesperson Fahmi Fadzil has denied that the government is involved in the report made against former Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin regarding his statement quoting the former Yang di-Pertuan Agong during a campaign speech for the Nenggiri by-election.

According to the Wilayahku portal, the Communications Minister stated that the report was made by a representative from the Pahang Palace and the investigation was carried out by the police.

“The government is not involved in this matter. The investigation is conducted by the police, and the prosecution is based on that investigation. The government is not involved.

“There are accusations and allegations (against the government) … It’s similar to the case involving the Kedah Chief Minister previously, (reported by) the Selangor Palace,” he said at a press conference at Perbadanan Putrajaya.

Meanwhile, Fahmi also reminded all parties to avoid raising 3R (royalty, religion, and race) sentiments, particularly involving the royal family.

Yesterday, Muhyiddin, who is also the Chairman of Perikatan Nasional (PN), was charged in the Gua Musang Sessions Court with the offense of incitement related to his speech at Felda Perasu on August 14.

Muhyiddin, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges and requested to be tried before Judge Nik Mohd Tarmizie Nik Mohd Shukri.

Muhyiddin is being investigated under the Sedition Act following his speech related to 3R during the Nenggiri by-election campaign recently.

The police have received 30 reports related to Muhyiddin’s speech, and 66 witnesses have been questioned to assist with the investigation.

Previously, a speech by the Pagoh Member of Parliament had gone viral on social media, allegedly touching on the authority of the Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, during his tenure as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
