Anwar receives courtesy visit from the Head of the Republic of Tatarstan
KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim received a courtesy visit from the Head of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, yesterday.
The Republic of Tatarstan is a region in Russia.
Anwar stated that the meeting, held at Perdana Putra in Putrajaya, was part of Rustam’s two-day working visit to Malaysia.
“We had an extensive discussion on efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between Russia and the Islamic world, particularly involving the member countries of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
“Our discussions also touched on Malaysia’s participation in the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) coalition.
“I reiterated Malaysia’s commitment to joining this coalition, as previously stated to Russia,” he said in a Facebook post.
According to Anwar, the meeting was also used to explore potential cooperation in various fields, especially in the halal sector.
He also mentioned that this is part of the effort to strengthen cooperation in the field of education.
