DBKL cat sanctuary becomes a shelter for stray cats
KUALA LUMPUR: The DBKL Cat Sanctuary (Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur) serves as a shelter for stray cats, said the Prime Minister’s Political Secretary, Datuk Azman Abidin.
He stated that the cat sanctuary is also one of the initiatives to address issues caused by stray cats.
“It has been informed that the DBKL Cat Sanctuary is a comprehensive place for cat protection, where cats surrendered to the sanctuary will undergo health screening and will then be neutered.
“I hope this noble effort can be continued in other locations to provide care for stray cats,” he said.
He attended the official opening of the DBKL Cat Sanctuary at Taman Tasik Permaisuri, Bandar Tun Razak, Kuala Lumpur, yesterday.
The event was officiated by the Executive Director (Socioeconomic Development) of DBKL, Ismadi Sakirin.
According to Ismadi, the idea to establish the Cat Sanctuary was initiated in collaboration with the Member of Parliament for Bandar Tun Razak, Datuk Seri Dr. Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, and the DBKL Mayor, Datuk Seri Kamarulzaman Mat Salleh.
The DBKL Cat Sanctuary also serves as a platform to enhance the cat adoption program in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur.
