Madani cat carnival becomes a platform for uniting the people, says Wan Azizah

KUALA LUMPUR: The Jom Madani Cat Carnival, which was attended by people of various races and religions regardless of age, is seen as a platform for uniting the people, said Bandar Tun Razak Member of Parliament, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

The Prime Minister’s wife expressed excitement at seeing the overwhelming response from over 10,000 visitors, describing it as very encouraging.

“Congratulations and well done to the organizers for successfully hosting this event filled with a variety of beneficial and engaging activities.

“The attendance of people from diverse backgrounds, both old and young, proves that as a family of unity, we can come together to strengthen ties and foster goodwill as a community,” she said in her speech at the closing ceremony of the Jom Madani Cat Carnival at the DBKL Training Institute (IDB).

Her speech was read by her daughter, Nurul Izzah Anwar.

Also present at the event was the Prime Minister’s Political Secretary, Datuk Azman Abidin.

According to Wan Azizah, while it has often been said that ‘sports unite the people,’ she now describes this program as ‘cats uniting the people.’

She added that the carnival featured various programs aimed at raising awareness about the importance of cat vaccination.

She noted that the awareness campaigns addressed issues such as dangerous diseases and the need for healthy food for pets.

“All these efforts are crucial in ensuring that the welfare of our pets is properly maintained,” she said.

Wan Azizah also extended her appreciation to the sponsors who have carried out their corporate social responsibility with full commitment in advocating for animal welfare, especially to cat lovers.

She said such initiatives should be emulated by other companies as part of efforts to instill noble values in society.

At the event, Nurul Izzah also received the Malaysian flag as a symbolic gesture marking the arrival of the 2024 Merdeka Journey Convoy (KMJG).
