Malaysia condemns Israeli attack on Gaza school

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian government has strongly condemned the barbaric attack by the Israeli regime on the al-Tabin School in Gaza City yesterday, which resulted in the deaths of over 100 Palestinians who were taking refuge in the school.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that the attack involved many children and severely injured many more, leading to fatalities due to a severe lack of essential medical supplies.

“The deliberate attack on a school used as a shelter by Palestinians is not only a blatant violation of international law, humanitarian law, and human rights law but also constitutes an unforgivable crime against humanity,” it said.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the Israeli regime has once again clearly demonstrated its lack of intention to pursue peace.

It said that it is extreme for the international community to ignore Israel’s heinous acts in killing women, children, and the elderly without any punishment.

“The international community can no longer tolerate the arrogance of the Israeli regime.

“The Israeli government’s empty promises to achieve a lasting ceasefire in the ongoing peace negotiations cannot be trusted,” it said.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on Israel’s allies to force Israel to immediately stop the brutal killing of innocent Palestinians.

It said that Israel’s allies should also stop all support that enables this genocide to continue.

“Immediate, urgent, and firm action by the United Nations Security Council is necessary to enforce a permanent ceasefire.

“This will ensure that humanitarian aid flows unobstructed to Palestine and bring the Zionist regime to justice for war crimes committed,” it said.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) must unite and work with all UN Member States to urge Israel to comply with UNSC Resolution 2735 (2024) and respect the International Court of Justice Advisory Opinion dated July 19, 2024.

“The time to act is now. Malaysia stands firm in its commitment to justice and peace and will continue to advocate for the rights of the Palestinian people.

“Malaysia will not cease until an independent and sovereign State of Palestine is established, with East Jerusalem as its legitimate capital, and Palestine is recognized as a Full Member State of the United Nations,” it said.
