KUALA LUMPUR: The Foreign Ministry is closely monitoring the situation in Lebanon and has confirmed that no Malaysians have been reported affected by the recent shootings in the southern part of the country.
According to Bernama, while the situation remains uncertain, the ministry stated that it is actively communicating with the Malaysian Embassy in Beirut, the Malaysian Ministry of Defence, and the United Nations (UN) to assess the status and safety of the Malaysian Peacekeeping Battalion (MALBATT) 850-11 stationed in Tibnin and Marakah, as well as other Malaysians in Lebanon.
The ministry urges all Malaysians not part of MALBATT who choose to remain in Lebanon to stay in contact with the embassy and strictly follow any guidelines and instructions issued by local authorities.
“Those who have not yet registered with the embassy are strongly encouraged to do so immediately to ensure they receive timely updates and support,” it said in a statement today.
The ministry also noted that it will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide necessary updates to ensure the safety and well-being of all Malaysians in Lebanon.
It advises Malaysians requiring consular assistance or further information to contact the Malaysian Embassy in Beirut at Lot 170, Saad Zaghloul Street, Downtown, Beirut, Lebanon, or by phone at +961 71 380 063 or +961 76 772 527, or via email at mwbeirut@kln.gov.my.
