JOHOR BARU: Police have confirmed that no additional arrests have been made in connection with the abduction of 6-year-old Albertine Leo Jia Hui.

Iskandar Puteri police chief Assistant Commissioner M. Kumarasan stated that to date, only five suspects remain in police custody to aid in the investigation.

“There have been no new arrests. Thank you,” he said when reached for comment today.

Albertine was reportedly abducted from the Eco Galleria business centre in Iskandar Puteri last Saturday.
Regarding the motive behind the incident and the relationship of the suspects with the victim’s parents, Kumarasan urged for patience and emphasized the need for space for the police to conduct thorough investigations.

“Please be patient; all questions will be addressed once the investigation concludes. Kindly allow the police the necessary room to complete their inquiries. Thank you,” he added.

Albertine Leo was discovered missing around 8.30pm by her parents, who were attending the Bon Odori Festival at the business centre.

The case was reclassified from a missing person report to Section 365 of the Penal Code for kidnapping after the arrest of three suspects aged between 28 and 55 on Monday.

Two men and a woman were apprehended in Gelang Patah around 1.30pm, followed by the arrest of another woman in her 40s in the district at 12.15pm yesterday.

The four local suspects were subsequently remanded for four days until this Friday.

Police successfully rescued the victim, the third of four siblings, from a budget hotel in Batang Kali, Selangor, at 4.45am yesterday.

The fifth suspect, a 31-year-old local man found with the victim, was arrested. He allegedly transported the 6-year-old from Johor to Selangor by car.

The man was brought before the Johor Baru Court and remanded for seven days until next Monday.
