An elderly woman who lived alone was found dead in a Tumpat house fire

KOTA BHARU: In Kampung Bukit, Wakaf Baru, Tumpat, an old woman who lived alone was discovered dead about 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 11.

Firefighters discovered 85-year-old victim Halimah Awang lying on her back in the bathroom, her body burned in several parts of her body.

At 8:04 p.m., a team of 19 firefighters, including members of the Tunjong Fire and Rescue station, responded quickly to the scene after getting a distress call, according to Nazah Nafi, chief of the Wakaf Baru Fire and Rescue station.

“When first responders arrived, they discovered that 70% of the house had been damaged by the fire.

He stated in a statement on Thursday that “we found the victim lying in the bathroom when the fire was successfully brought under control at 8.37pm.”

According to him, the case was turned over to the police and then sent to Tumpat Hospital for further action. – Bernama
