PADU use secure cryptographic technology, said Rafizi
KUALA LUMPUR: The Main Database (PADU) use secure cryptographic technology through an algorithm listed under the National Trusted Cryptographic Algorithm (AKSA MySEAL) list, to ensure the system’s security level.
Berita Harian reports, Minister of Economy, Rafizi Ramli, said the development of the PADU system takes into account data encryption methods and a secure operating system.
“Close cooperation is also carried out with various agencies that manage cyber security and national data privacy such as the Office of the Chief Government Security Officer, the National Cyber Security Agency and CyberSecurity Malaysia in ensuring the security effectiveness of the PADU system.
“The security of the PADU system is a priority and is constantly being improved,” he said through a written answer posted on the Parliament’s website.
He answered a question from Datuk Ali Anak Biju (PN-Saratok) who wanted to know the improvement measures taken involving some changes in the system recommended by the Sarawak government.
At the same time, Rafizi said, the three main components in PADU that are focused on are data, system and network security.
He said, the improvement of the security level of PADU is always continued from time to time, including ‘Multi Factor Authentication’ (MFA) and the integration of PADU with MyDigital ID.
“This improvement effort will further increase the security level of the PADU system and increase people’s confidence in this system,” he said.
In the same development, Rafizi said, there are two existing policies on data sharing, namely the National Data Sharing Policy and the Public Sector Data Sharing Policy as well as two data sharing platforms provided by the government.
He said it involved the Malaysian Government Central Data Exchange (MyGDX) and Public Sector Open Data.
“The enactment of the Omnibus Act – Public Sector Data Sharing will be the source of authority in the legal context that will enable data sharing to be implemented.
“This act will help increase the effectiveness of data sharing, including the use of PADU data and further help the government formulate more effective policies and initiatives based on data,” he said.
