The foreign individuals were held for a variety of violations under the Immigration Act 1959/63 and Immigration Regulations 1963, according to Meor Hezbullah Meor Abd Malik, director of the Perak Immigration Department.

He released a statement saying, “The foreign nationals, aged between 21 and 46, comprising 78 women and 10 men (Thailand 64, Vietnam 13, Nepal 4, India 3, Bangladesh 3, Sri Lanka 1), were detained during raids carried out after surveillance by the Investigating Unit and Perak JIM.”

Meor Hezbullah reported that the operation involved 22 members of the General Operations Force (PGA) from Hulu Kinta and 35 officers from JIM Perak.

He went on to say that all of the foreign people will be placed under arrest at the Ipoh Immigration Depot and that legal action would be pursued in accordance with the Immigration Act.

Meor Hezbullah also expressed gratitude to the people for providing information on prostitution, immoral activity, and the presence of undocumented immigrants in their communities.

“JIM will prosecute any person or business that harbours undocumented immigrants on its premises. These criminals will face legal charges, he declared. —Bernama
