KUALA LUMPUR: Former Selangor UMNO Relations Chairman, Tan Sri Noh Omar needs to remember the services of the party he once joined, even though he has now changed direction with the struggle of a new party.

The advice was given by UMNO Supreme Working Council (MKT) member, Datuk Sharkar Shamsudin who hoped that the former Minister of Entrepreneurship and Cooperative Development would know that he had been with UMNO and contested for six terms.

In fact, he said, Noh needs to look at his position now that he was once offered a ministerial position when he was with UMNO.

“First of all we want to congratulate Tan Sri, because there are new friends, a new platform and a new struggle.

“He is my friend, it is his right for him to enter Bersatu and we never forbade and never ordered.

“Because in our constitution it is mentioned that everyone can join together…which means they can just choose the platform of any political party,” he told the media here today.

Sharkar was asked by reporters about Noh’s actions, who publicly announced that he would join Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) with immediate effect.

Yesterday, Noh announced the matter by stating that he had applied to join the party online.

He said that the matter was not known to anyone until he got a certificate to be a member of Bersatu.

On 27 January, the former Member of Parliament for Tanjong Karang was sacked from UMNO after being accused of violating party discipline according to the Constitution for wrongdoing during the 15th General Election (GE-15).

Noh’s dismissal after reports and strong evidence that he sabotaged the Tanjung Karang Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate in GE-15, Datuk Habibah Mohd Yusof.

Noh was also involved in allegations of allegedly sponsoring an independent candidate who was his special officer who ran in the Tanjong Karang Parliament in the 15th-GE.
