KUALA LUMPUR: MATTA is ready to work with the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) and other relevant authorities to improve the safety level of the country’s tourism thus restoring public confidence in the quality of the service.

According to Sinar Harian, its President, Nigel Wong, said that the collaboration involved joint efforts in finding long-term and sustainable solutions to problems affecting various aspects of the tourism industry.

“We urge MOTAC to take a firm attitude and action against any party found responsible.

“The actions of a few irresponsible individuals or organizations should not tarnish the reputation of the entire tourism industry,” he said in a statement on Sunday.

On Saturday, two people died after a sightseeing bus carrying Chinese tourists reportedly overturned at Kilometer 16.5 Jalan Genting Highlands, Bentong.

In the meantime, said Nigel, the recent accident highlights the important need for vigilance and accountability in the transport sector.
