NIBONG TEBAL: Voters in Sungai Bakap are urged to judge wisely and not be easily swayed by the opposition’s propaganda asking them to protest against the increase in the cost of living through the ballot box in the area’s by-election (PRK) on July 6.

According to Bernama, PKR Women’s Leader Fadhlina Sidek described the opponent’s actions of playing a narrative inviting voters to take action against the Unity Government could contaminate the country’s democratic process.

“It is not appropriate for the protest (ballot box) to be carried out. We have to know that the vote and also this democratic process takes place in the ballot box.

“For me such a narrative is very shallow and our (government’s) focus and effort is to ensure that all (people’s issues) have meaning in terms of our (people’s representatives) ability and devotional service must reach the people,” he said.

Earlier Fadhlina along with the Perpaduan machine greeted traders at the Sungai Duri Night Market, here in an effort to help Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate Dr Joohari Ariffin’s campaign which is now entering its sixth day.

Fadhlina who is also the Minister of Education said they need full support in electing representatives who can raise all the people’s issues to the highest level and who can really work for the people and then convey the voice of the people of the Sungai Bakap State Legislative Assembly.

The media previously reported that Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate Abidin Ismail in his campaign asked Sungai Bakap voters to protest through the ballot box as a way of expressing dissatisfaction with the Unity Government.

Joohari and Abidin competed in a one-on-one contest at the Sungai Bakap state assembly by-election on July 6, which was held following the death of incumbent Nor Zamri Latiff on May 24.
