A MAS flight to Bangkok turned back to KLIA

KUALA LUMPUR: A Malaysia Airlines plane on a flight to Bangkok, Thailand had to turn back to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

FMT reports, Malaysia Airlines said the Airbus A330-200, flight MH780 turned back to KLIA after experiencing an air pressure issue at 5.59pm during the flight to Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok.

“The pilot then performed an emergency descent even though it did not exceed the cabin altitude and the passenger’s oxygen mask was not lowered,” he said in a statement.

Malaysia Airlines added that the plane remained stable and landed safely at KLIA at 8.18pm.

Earlier, AviationSource News reported that the plane turned back after declaring an emergency.

According to the UK-based aviation news portal, the plane was already in Thai airspace before declaring an emergency and diverting to Kuala Lumpur.
