“Journey” will be Awie’s final solo performance

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Awie’s final solo performance will take place on August 3 during Konsert Journey Awie at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur.

The lead singer of Wings announced yesterday in an interview that he had made the decision to discontinue his career as a solo musician in order to spend more time with his family. 

“For all these years, I have prioritised my work over my family. Even attending my children’s graduations was out of the question for me,” he remarked. 

“This gradually made me think, when will I start to spend quality time with them?”And why am I not able to perform and sing with my band Wings?”

This year, as he approaches his 40th year as a recording artist, seems to be “just the right time” for Awie to permanently scale back his live performances. 

“My children understand the demands of my work.”I have to spend days apart from them so that I can give music fans an incredible experience.”However, nothing compares to catching up with them and spending time with them.

“God has blessed me with good health, so as long as I am in good health I must start to be a father to my children,” Awie stated.
