UMNO Completes Payment of Najib’s Fine

PETALING JAYA: UMNO has officially closed the special account for the Najib Razak Solidarity Fund after the fundraising campaign launched to assist former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak reached its target.

UMNO Secretary-General Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said the party had also completed all payment procedures with the Kuala Lumpur High Court this morning.

He said the fund, launched on September 18, had collected sufficient contributions from UMNO members and the public.

“UMNO wishes to announce that the funds raised through the Najib Razak Solidarity Fund, launched on September 18 to assist former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, have reached the target and are sufficient.

“UMNO completed all payment procedures with the Kuala Lumpur High Court this morning,” he said in a statement today.

As such, Asyraf said there was no longer any need to continue public fundraising efforts for the purpose.

“UMNO hereby officially closes the special Najib Razak Solidarity Fund account established to receive public donations, as there is no longer any need for crowdfunding for this purpose,” he said.

Meanwhile, he also expressed appreciation to all UMNO members and members of the public who had continuously contributed since the fund was launched.

“UMNO wishes to express its deepest gratitude to Allah and extend its appreciation to UMNO members throughout Malaysia and the public who have consistently contributed to the designated account since the very first day,” he said.
