Malaysia-UN SDG Trust Fund Delegation Reviews Certified Visual Teacher Programme
PETALING JAYA: A delegation from the Malaysia-UN SDG Trust Fund Secretariat, together with Yayasan MySDG and the Johor State Education Department (JPN), conducted a monitoring visit to three schools in Kulai to assess the implementation and effectiveness of the Certified Visual Teacher (CVT) programme.
The visit, led by Malaysia-UN SDG Trust Fund Secretariat head Rizatuddin Ramli, was also attended by representatives from Yayasan MySDG and senior Johor JPN officials.
The three participating schools were Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) (Felda) Sinar Bahagia, Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC) Pei Cheng and Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Indahpura 1.
The delegation observed the implementation of the Visualisation Through Freehand (VTF) method in classrooms and examined students’ sketches to assess how the approach supports the learning process.
Developed by Dr Ruzaimi Mat Rani, the VTF method uses spontaneous visual sketches to enhance visual communication skills while helping students understand learning concepts more effectively.
Yayasan Wiba Prima (YWP) chief executive officer Amirul Iskandar Mannan said the visit reinforced confidence that a simple, low-cost visual sketching approach could have a significant impact on students.
He said 100 teachers had been trained in the VTF method and were currently applying it in their teaching and learning sessions.
“The programme aims to benefit approximately 15,000 students across Johor by the end of this year.
“Participating teachers are also expected to receive CVT certification in January 2027,” he said.
Amirul Iskandar said the programme also emphasised the principle of “leaving no one behind” through the involvement of special education teachers and B40 communities, in line with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 4, 10 and 17.
“The VTF method is not new. Since 2023, more than 2,500 teachers have been trained through various programme series,” he said.
