An engine issue occurs on Malaysia Airlines flight MH199 from Hyderabad

KUALA LUMPUR: Due to an engine failure, Malaysia Airlines Bhd has reported that Flight MH199 has cancelled its departure from Hyderabad, India, to Malaysia.

The event happened not long after takeoff.

The aircraft has been diverted back to Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, according to the Malaysian flag carrier.

According to data from flight tracking website FlightAware.com, the Malaysia Airlines flight left Hyderabad 15 minutes behind schedule at 12.30 am local time and returned to the airport about 20 minutes later.

Reports from onlookers suggest that one of the Boeing 738’s two engines produced sparks.
