Student Found Dead at School, Suspected Murder
BATU PAHAT: A Form Four student was found dead in what is believed to be a murder at a secondary school in Yong Peng near here on Saturday.
According to a source, the 16-year-old girl was found lifeless in the school hall in the afternoon.
“The victim, who is believed to have been living with her grandmother, had gone to the school in the afternoon to attend a tuition class.
“Her grandmother became aware that the victim, identified as Irene Sofiya Mohd Khairool Faisal, was missing after one of her friends asked at noon whether she was at home,” the source said.
The source said that after realising the teenager was not at home, her grandmother rushed to the school and found her lying in a weakened state.
“The victim was found lying weak with dried blood stains and bruises that appeared to be consistent with having been struck. She was still conscious when she was found before later losing consciousness,” the source said.
The source added that the victim was an orphan who lived with her grandmother in the district following the death of her mother, while her father works in Kuala Lumpur.
Meanwhile, Batu Pahat district police chief ACP Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani, when contacted, said the case is still under investigation.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is understood to be continuing its investigation into the case.
Members of the public were also seen gathering outside the school gates to follow developments in the case.
Several forensic vehicles from the Johor police contingent headquarters were also seen at the school hall as investigations were carried out.
