Roro Driver Shocked After ‘Heavy’ Package Brought Home Turns Out to Contain Suspected Mortar Bombs

SEPANG: A Roll-On Roll-Off (roro) truck driver was shocked to discover that a package collected during a rubbish collection in Sungai Balak, Kajang, contained three objects resembling mortar bombs on Friday.

More surprisingly, the driver was unaware of what was inside the package and inadvertently brought it home to Kampung Dato’ Ahmad Razali here.

Md Raduan Ghani, 41, said he began work as usual at 4am, carrying out rubbish disposal duties.

“After finishing work, I returned home and the red plastic package that I had set aside earlier was still in the truck. I really had no idea what was inside,” he told Sinar Harian when met here on Friday.

Md Raduan said that when he arrived home, he took out the items one by one and was shocked to discover what appeared to be bombs.

He said a neighbour who was informed of the discovery immediately contacted the police.

“I went straight to the Dengkil police station to lodge a report. I never imagined something like this would happen, and this is the first time I have come across anything this strange,” he said.

Meanwhile, Sepang district police chief ACP Norhizam Bahaman said police received a report from the driver at about 3.30pm.

He said personnel from the Dengkil police station secured the area before the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Bomb Disposal Unit was deployed to the scene.

“An inspection was carried out and the three objects suspected to be bombs were removed to a safe location.

“The situation at the scene is under control and the bombs will be destroyed tomorrow (Saturday),” he said.
