Married Woman Caught in Alleged Khalwat with Single Man in Bedroom, Daughter and Son-in-Law Also in House
KLUANG: A married woman was detained with a single man after they were suspected of committing khalwat at a house in the district early Wednesday morning.
The Johor Islamic Religious Department (JAINJ) said the raid was carried out at 1.40am following a tip-off from the public.
According to JAINJ, two male enforcement officers were stationed at the back door of the house to prevent anyone from escaping.
“Upon arriving at the front door, enforcement officers saw a woman wearing trousers and a T-shirt outside the house.
“The officers entered and found another woman lying on a mattress while using her phone. She was wearing a batik sarong and a long-sleeved shirt,” it said in a statement.
JAINJ said the inspection continued before officers discovered that a room near the area was locked from the inside.
“When questioned, the woman said the room belonged to her mother, who was sleeping.
“After officers knocked on the door, it was opened about five minutes later by a woman wearing sleepwear.
“The room was dark, prompting enforcement officers to use a flashlight, after which they found a man on the bed,” it said.
JAINJ said questioning revealed that the 29-year-old man was single, from another state and worked in the surrounding area, while the 44-year-old woman worked in Johor.
“When asked about her husband, the woman said they had not been living together for more than a year. However, checks revealed that they were not officially divorced.
“An inspection of the double bed found the sheets crumpled and the blanket rolled up,” it said.
JAINJ said the man had travelled to the house by motorcycle from his residence, located about 10 kilometres away.
“Enforcement officers then inspected a room at the back of the house and found a man with his wife, who is also the daughter of the woman concerned.
“Strangely, those in the house did not appear surprised when their mother was caught with the man, possibly because they had known about the matter for some time and felt unable to do or say anything because she was their mother,” it said.
According to JAINJ, the 44-year-old woman and the 29-year-old man will be charged under Section 27 of the Johor Syariah Criminal Offences Enactment.
