Tun M Breaks Down in Tears Again While Visiting Tun Dr Siti Hasmah’s Grave

PUTRAJAYA: Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was overcome with grief while visiting the grave of his wife, the late Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali, at Pusara Negara in Precinct 20 here on Thursday.

Dr Mahathir arrived at 11am from the National Heart Institute (IJN) and spent about 20 minutes at his late wife’s grave.

He was then seen offering prayers and scattering flower petals over Dr Siti Hasmah’s grave as a final gesture of respect.

Grief and longing were clearly visible on Dr Mahathir’s face.

Members of the public who were also at the cemetery were similarly overcome with emotion as they witnessed the moment.

The late Tun Dr Siti Hasmah died at 9.20am on Sept 28 at IJN in Kuala Lumpur at the age of 100.

She was laid to rest at Pusara Negara on the same day after being accorded state funeral honours by the government.

Earlier, her eldest daughter, Datuk Marina Mahathir, also visited her mother’s grave.

Besides members of the public from various walks of life, renowned singer Datuk Ramli Sarip and Putrajaya MP Datuk Dr Mohd Radzi Md Jidin were also seen at the cemetery.
