Cafe Worker Drowns at Chamang Recreational Forest

KUANTAN: A recreational outing involving 14 friends at Chamang Recreational Forest in Bentong turned tragic when one of them drowned on Tuesday.

Pahang Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Division Assistant Director Mohd Salahuddin Isa said the victim, Mohd Aiman Nazmi Mohd Yusuf, 29, was found by Forestry Department personnel about 20 metres from where he was reported to have submerged.

He said the victim had been brought out of the water before firefighters arrived and was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call regarding the incident at 1.29pm and arrived at the location, about 15 kilometres from the Bentong Fire and Rescue Station (BBP), approximately 40 minutes later.

“Upon arriving at the scene, personnel immediately conducted an assessment and received confirmation from health officials that the victim had died at the scene,” he said.

Mohd Salahuddin said the operations commander reported that the victim’s body was handed over to the police for further action.

He said based on information received, the victim worked at a cafe at a petrol station in Sungai Besi and had travelled to the waterfall with 13 friends, including five women.
