‘It Was Just Dinner; If PAS Invites Us, PH Will Attend Too’ – Adam Adli

MELAKA: A closed-door meeting between leaders of Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) at a hotel here on Monday involved only a dinner and a get-to-know-you session, said Adam Adli Abdul Halim.

The acting chairman of the Melaka PKR State Leadership Council (MPN) said PH accepted Bersatu’s invitation as a move to maintain good relations among political parties ahead of the Melaka State Election.

“There was no plan. We just had dinner and got to know one another, and looked at where each side is heading.

“Bersatu’s invitation to this closed-door dinner was extended some time ago, and we felt that, with the election approaching, it was good to accept the invitation so that we can at least maintain good relations among all parties,” he said after attending the event.

Also seen at the event were Bersatu Information Chief Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz, Bersatu Associate Wing Chief Datuk R Sri Sanjeevan, State Election Director Datuk Seri Mohammad Ali Mohamad and Melaka Bersatu Information Chief Datuk Hishamuddin Abdul Karim.

Adam Adli, who is also the Hang Tuah Jaya Member of Parliament, said the meeting also provided an opportunity for party leaders to get to know one another and exchange views on preparations for the state election.

“Although this was a closed-door event, we were able to get to know one another and see who is involved in the run-up to the election, what their respective plans are and so on.

“We have said before that, in this election, all parties are actually talking to one another.”

Commenting on seat allocations, Adam Adli said the distribution of seats within PH at the state level had been finalised, although the decision still needed to go through further processes before being announced.

“Within PH, yes, we have completed it. But that is only the initial stage. There is still a lot more work to be done.

“We are refocusing on strengthening our election machinery and ensuring that, when it comes to candidate selection, we put forward those who are truly capable,” he said.

He said the number of seats agreed upon by PH would be announced at the appropriate time.

Asked whether the seat allocation excluded cooperation with other parties, Adam Adli said the matter had yet to be determined.

“It does not include them for now. We are still not entirely sure how things will turn out. That is why we need to get to know everyone first.

“It is not just Bersatu. We are also constantly negotiating, talking and engaging with BN. PAS is the only one that, as I said, has not invited us yet. So, we are waiting for that too,” he said.
