KAJANG: Former Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) Chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim and his family members have been ordered to declare their assets within one month.

Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman said the asset declaration notice had been served on Abdul Azeez in accordance with the relevant legal provisions.

He said the notice requires those involved to declare and report their assets to the MACC.

“The asset declaration notice was issued to the former chairman and his family, including his children,” he told reporters at the MACC Shooting Programme with the Media at Kajang Prison here on Saturday.

According to the charge, the 60-year-old politician was accused, in his capacity as a public body officer and Chairman of Lembaga Tabung Haji, of using his position to obtain gratification.

The alleged gratification involved the position of Chairman of Putrajaya Perdana Berhad, with remuneration of RM690,000 a year, as well as the use of a BMW 7 Series vehicle and a permanent driver.

Abdul Azeez was previously remanded for seven days, from Aug 27 to Sept 2, together with former Treasury Secretary-General Tan Sri Mohd Irwan Serigar Abdullah, to assist investigations under Section 23(1) of the MACC Act.

The investigation followed revelations contained in the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report concerning Tabung Haji.
