Media Bridge Gap Between Local Authorities and Public, Strengthen Information Delivery

SHAH ALAM: The media’s role as a bridge between local authorities (PBT) and the community is crucial in ensuring that information on development, services and current issues is communicated accurately.

Shah Alam Mayor Dato’ Zabidah Safar said the media helps the public understand various developments and initiatives undertaken by local authorities for the benefit of residents.

“The role of the media is very important to both the council and the public because it provides information that helps the community understand various issues.

“Every report and coverage must be carried out with integrity and responsibility to ensure that information delivered to the public is accurate and clear,” she said.

She said this when met at the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) and Media Synergy Gala Night 2025 at the Hilton Hotel, Glenmarie, here yesterday.

According to Zabidah, MBSA is always open to working with the media, including providing responses and clarification on issues raised.

She said the platform was expected to foster closer ties and strengthen cooperation between MBSA and media practitioners in the future.

The MBSA and Media Synergy Gala Night 2025 was held as a gesture of appreciation for media practitioners who have consistently provided coverage and reported on various developments involving the local authority’s administration.

The cooperation also helps ensure that information on MBSA’s programmes, initiatives and services reaches the public, while enhancing residents’ understanding of the improvement efforts being implemented.
