Warning of heavy rain, thunderstorms, strong winds in 7 states

SHAH ALAM: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) issued a warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds in seven states until 12 noon, Monday.

According to Sinar Harian, the agency informed that the warning involves all of Perlis, Penang and the Kerian district in Perak.

In addition, it also happened in Kedah (Langkawi, Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Pokok Sena, Padang Terap, Yan, Pendang, Kuala Muda, Kulim and Bandar Baharu); Negeri Sembilan (Port Dickson); Johor (Muar and Kota Tinggi) and Sarawak (Mukah, Bintulu and Miri).

“A warning is issued when there are signs of a thunderstorm with an intensity of rain exceeding 20 millimeters (mm) per hour that is imminent or expected to occur for more than an hour.

“Thunderstorm warnings are short-term warnings that are valid for a period of no more than six hours for a single issue,” he said in a post on his Facebook page on Monday.
