Tabung Haji RCI: Jamil Khir Arrives at Court

KUALA LUMPUR: Former Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom arrived at the Sessions Court here on Monday to face charges in connection with investigations into the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report on Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH).

Jamil Khir, dressed in a white shirt and black suit, arrived at the Jalan Duta Court Complex at 7.40am.

Earlier, Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman was reported as saying that the prosecution involved a case linked to the TH RCI report, after the commission obtained the Attorney General’s approval to bring charges in court.

MACC was reported to have recommended three charges under Section 403 of the Penal Code, which concerns the dishonest misappropriation or conversion of property belonging to another person for one’s own use.

The section provides for a jail term of between six months and five years, whipping and a possible fine.

For the record, as of last Thursday, four individuals had already been charged in court.

Those charged were TH chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim, former THP Bina Sdn Bhd Safety and Health Manager Nasahruddin Ahmad, and former TH Properties Sdn Bhd Deputy General Manager Tengku Kamarolhisham Tengku Kamaruddin, who was also a former Deputy General Manager of THP Bina Sdn Bhd.

Also charged was Alam Maritim Resources Bhd Group Managing Director and Group Chief Executive Officer Datuk Azmi Ahmad.
